nubuck is a leather similar to suede, but this time the polishing and tanning process is carried out on the outer face of the leather, which is technically known as the "grain". Its appearance and touch are reminiscent of a peach. This skin is particularly sensitive to stains, since it is totally exposed when polishing and treating it.
Nubuck is top grain cowhide leather that has been sanded or buffed on the grain side, or outside, to give a light coating of short protein fibers, producing a velvet-like surface. It is wear resistant and can be white or colored.
