Tundra Frequently Asked Questions

The Yeti Tundra was created to solve the old problem of the lower quality refrigerators that fail in the field. Brothers Roy and Ryan Seiders, tired of broken closures, arched tapas and melted ice, set out to create a superior refrigerator for hunting and fishing, and so Yeti was born.
The tundra and Roadie® refrigerators are rotomolded, which is the same process that is used to create kayaks for bravewater. And we have designed the refrigerators so that they retain the ice for a longer time - much more-, providing them with a isolation twice greater than that of most normal refrigerators. The result is a family of refrigerators with a durability and retention of ice far higher than any other refrigerator on the market.
Tundras are ideal for hunting, sport fishing, camping, navigation, rafting, tailgating, rowing and barbecue. Oh, and also to drink beer. There is even Tundra 250 and 350 for commercial uses, such as oil and gas, construction and medical industries. La Roadie is BYob's new best friend. The Roadie and some sizes of the tundra are available in colors such as classic white, desert tan, blue ice and seasonal edition colors.

The rotational molding process (also known as rotomold) is a high-temperature and low pressure plastic formation process that uses heat and biaxial rotation (ie, two-axis rotation) to produce hollow pieces of one piece . The Yeti refrigerator mold is loaded with powder polyethylene. Next, the mold is placed in a large oven while turning on two axes at different speeds, which helps prevent dust from accumulating at a point. The polyethylene is melted and adheres evenly to the mold wall. Once the polyethylene is melted, the molds are removed from the oven so that they cool down. And once cold, they are extracted from the mold. It is something like a huge oven Easy-Bake rotating that produces refrigerators instead of cakes.
The process has strengths inherent in the design, such as the constant thickness of the walls and the solidity of the outer corners, which practically do not suffer tensions. The process of rotational molding gives the refrigerators a one-piece construction and unparalleled durability.

Our refrigerators are stronger than this grizzly and this guy. They have also survived battles with fireworks, a tirachin and an excursion of duals of risk. So we would say they are quite strong.

Our rigid refrigerators have been tested by the Grizzly Inter-institutional Committee (IGBC), a Committee of the US Forest Service Department of Agriculture. Who works in both controlled and wild environments with Grizzly bears.
IGBC publishes minimum design and structure standards, as well as an inspection methodology and tests for bears resistant containers. The Yeti Tundra complied with the IGBC requirements both in the engineering test and in the test with living bears. The IGBC officially approved the Yeti Tundra and Roadie for use in public land and national parks occupied by brown bears.

There are many variables that affect the retention of ice, so it is a difficult question to respond. Variables that can affect the retention of ice include the quality of the ice, the amount of ice, the type of ice (crushed, in block, in cubes, dry), the exterior environment, the exposure to direct sunlight, etc. . That is, there are many things that can affect the longevity of the ice.
Over the years, we have received many different reports from Yeti users in the field with respect to ice retention. Some customers have reported that they have ice after their two-week trip on the river, while others have said that their "branded fridge crante with a better ice".
Due to the large number of variables, as well as the lack of an industry standard to measure ice retention, statements that place a defined time (5, 10, 14 days) are often based on trial conditions and not In real-life situations.
In the end, the tundra offers up to 3 inches of insulation of polyurethane foam, combined with a freezer style sealing gasket. Beyond that, everything else is out of our control. But if you can minimize the negative variables that affect the retention of ice, the Yeti refrigerators have no competition. And we have compiled a complete list of tips and tricks to maximize ice retention.

A small amount of ice is not a good indicator of how well your refrigerator can retain the ice due to excess air space inside the fridge. Excess air space harms ice retention. To maximize ice retention, fill your fridge up with ice and products. Also, if the fridge starts to be hot, a small amount of ice could start initially faster in a Yeti refrigerator than on one of finer walls.
The best ice retention results are achieved filling the fridge completely with high quality ice, which means using block ice that is well below the freezing temperature. In addition, the maximum ice retention can be achieved by previously cooling the refrigerator. This will sufficiently cool the isolation and inside of the refrigerator, which helps the thick polyurethane walls work in their favor, not against them.
The Yeti tondras have up to 3 inches of polyurethane foam isolation, which is significantly more than most common refrigerators. If you use enough ice to cool the walls, the Yeti will undoubtedly exceed the competition.

You may be surprised to read this, but yes. The same isolation and thick walls that maintain the cold of the refrigerator also maintain the heat.

The Tundra series coincides closely (usually within an inch) with many popular refrigerators who have been in the market for years. However, the size of the quarterback of the tundra will be a little lower due to the thickness of the walls and the amount of isolation. Another thing that must be taken into account when choosing a size is that you want to fill the fridge with as much ice as possible, minimizing the air space to achieve maximum ice retention. Therefore, if you only have a small number of items that keep cold, you will want to choose a smaller fridge and vice versa. It is a fairly simple idea, but check out our approximate guidelines to find the size of refrigerator suitable for your needs.

For general cleaning it is recommended to use soap and warm water.
For deeper cleaning and for strong odor problems, use a tibia water solution and bleach (ratio 6: 1) with a sponge or a slightly abrasive cloth. The smells can be easily trapped in areas of difficult access, such as around the board and the drain plug, so be sure to scrub these areas well.
For difficult stains and very unpleasant smells, we recommend that you clean your Yeti with a high-pressure soap spray that you will find in a local DIY cars laundry.

Tundra Haul

Yes. Although we designed and tried every product that we manufacture to be the most durable of its class in the market, sometimes things become really wild. We have specific spare parts for wheels and haul handle. Contact our equipment team here for more information.

Haul's wheels are great and sufficiently durable as to face rocky roads, gravel trails and chipped marine springs. And, although the wheels can certainly bear the sand, it is possible for experiencing difficulties to shoot over or through this type of soft terrain.

Haul is compatible with the locking cable padlock and support, blocking bracket, tundra® mooring kit, bears-proof padlocks, corner wedding, carrier and bars.

Haul is not compatible with the divider, the seat cushion or Seadek, and does not come with a basket.

We recommend two Yeti Ice of 4 pounds at the Haul Background. One oriented towards the front and one side to the sides.

Although its Haul can certainly bear the weight, due to the rolling / non-stationary nature of the product, we do not recommend stacking articles or standing on the Haul at any time.

The condensation is normal around the lid and the drain plug, but the body of the refrigerator should not sweat.

Our Bearfoot ™ non-slip feet are designed to do not leave marks with proper use.

There are no slots in which stones or gravel can stay.

The empty cap is at the opposite end of the handle, so emptying is as easy as loosening the drain plug and tilting the Haul using the handle.

We have selected materials that behave well in salt water and we have subjected them to exhaustive testing in which all pieces have exceeded our water, moisture and saltwater environments. A special coating and high-grade stainless steel help ensure that your product does not oxide or weaken because of the elements.
