FABRIC TECHNOLOGY:
What makes waterproof-breathable fabrics like GORE-TEX® or Toray® so unique is the porosity of the fabric, which keeps the elements out while allowing moisture that builds up under the fabric to escape. Regular washing will maintain the original properties of the equipment.
Waders and rain gear should be dried after each use, both inside and out. Simms is aware that in certain situations there is not time for complete drying between uses. This circumstance is expected to contribute to shortening its useful life.
Breathable fabrics are porous by nature and can accumulate dirt, skin oils, and other environmental substances. Regular cleaning of waders is a key factor in their useful life.
Depending on the number of days of use, annual, semi-annual or triannual washing is recommended.
Exposure to salt water or salt air requires special care: Waders should be rinsed thoroughly with fresh water and dried after each use.
Most waterproof and breathable gear can be machine washed; See the care instructions on the label for more information.
Ask your Simms dealer to recommend a waterproofing treatment: They usually have re-waterproofing treatments such as NikWax.
